Luiz Morais is a founding member and 7-string guitar player in the London-based band Alvorada, the UK’s leading performers of Choro. Uniting top musicians from the UK and Brazil, with diverse backgrounds – including Classical, jazz and Brazilian music – Alvorada was formed in 2016 to bring Choro to wider audiences within the UK and Europe. The group play a vibrant repertoire which combines a traditional Choro repertoire with original works, revisiting the genre with influences from the UK. Alvorada launched their first album First Light in April 2019 to sold out shows and critical acclaim. In 2019 Alvorada won the Latin UK (LUKAS) award for ‘Best Act’ and ‘Best Band’ in the Focus Brasil Awards.
