Luiz Morais Group

At the cutting edge of Brazilian Jazz, the Luiz Morais Group plays Morais’ original music, drawn from the Brazilian tradition forged by the likes of Tom Jobim, Baden Powell and Moacir Santos whilst weaving new threads and connections to contemporary Jazz. Expect intricate, thrilling arrangements built around the rhythmical force of the Brazilian guitar tradition that push the players to their edge. The core of the band is a Quintet comprising the crème de la crème of UK Jazz instrumentalists: Luiz Morais (7-string Guitar), Gareth Lockrane (Flutes), John Turville/Ivo Neame (Piano), Misha Mullov-Abbado (Bass), Marius Rodrigues (Drums) and for a fuller sound are joined by a wind section of Laura Jurd (trumpet), Tom White (trombone) and Andrew Woolf (clarinet).
